How many rackets does a racket bag actually hold?

The number in the name is optimistic once shoes, clothing and drinks are in. A six racket bag realistically carries three or four frames plus kit. For club play a three or six is plenty; nine and twelve racket bags are for players carrying spares to tournaments.

What is a thermal compartment for?

It insulates part of the bag to slow temperature swings. Heat is what ruins strings and dries out grips fastest, so if your bag lives in a car boot in summer, a thermal section is genuinely worth having rather than a marketing feature.

Backpack or racket bag?

A backpack suits players who walk, cycle or commute to a session and carry one or two frames. A full racket bag suits anyone carrying spares, playing tournaments, or wanting shoes kept separately from kit. Most club players end up owning both.
